Current status: I just started a Ph.D program at RWTH Aachen University here in Germany. I am working on increasing the Solar-cell efficiency by using the tools of nano-technology. It feels good to be working towards making this world a better place considering all the alternative energy sources we can get. My Ph.D program which I started a few months ago is fully funded and I have so much freedom to work on the topic. My professor is really nice and all my work colleagues are super friendly. I know a bit of German but I am working hard at the moment to become fluent in it so that I can contribute towards my scientific research even more.
Life after JNV :   I think most of you already know how my life started after our beloved JNV. For people who don't know or have forgotten, here are all the details:
Left JNV in 2001 to go to the UK by getting the scholarship from Pestalozzi International Village based in England.

I know, it sounds weird that I am in Bangladesh for studies. Whoever comes to know about it says, Tum to ulti Ganga baha rahi ho, Sab log BD se India aate hai padhne. But, I am here because I was offered a full scholarship for my studies till masters which contains food, lodging and yearly travel expenses. In addition, I have a part time job which is paid by the university, though little, it’s enough for my pocket money. Another reason, it is an International University which has students from all over Asia and which promises a world class education along with a great exposure for students.

Name: Ankita Singh

Batch: 2000
School roll:
House: Shivalik
Current address: BIT, Mesra, Ranchi
Phone:
Current status: Student (BE) in chemical and polymer engineering

Life after JNV (what I am doing right now): At the moment, I am studying about the machineries used in chemical industries such as the quality control, reaction mechanism and kinetics of various types of chemical reaction. For the poloymer part I am studying about different types of polymers, their properties, synthesis and their engineering applications. In my college we are given more chance to think about a real time problem rather than to mug up equations and theories from text-books. So, it feels great when you think about anything deeply and there you find something.

Here are some topics I am going to talk about which would cover most of my biography (not completely, but at least something), which would be able to say quite a lot about my experience in our beloved JNV Tenughat and hope to see many of you share similar things. It would give us an opportunity and platform to get and keep connected once again. So here it goes:

Current status: Well, currently, I am unemployed. In other words, I have quit my job in order to prepare for UPSC (although I might not crack it, fingers crossed :))

Life after JNV: Recieved a graduation degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Delhi. Of course, then this subject became the main topic for my UPSC paper. At the same time, I am also taking the 'public administration' paper during the preparation.
If someone needs any advice or suggestion regarding the UPSC preparation then please don't hesitate to contact me. In my opinion, Delhi would be an ideal place to prepare for it, btw.
